Obituary for Cecil Edison McCormick

Cecil Edison McCormick of McKinney, TX, devoted husband, father and grandfather died at the Avalon Memory Care Facility in McKinney, TX, on August 4, 2022, at the age of 83. He was born in Chaffee, MO, on February 13, 1939, and was the son of Benjamin Waite and Virgie Mae Lee McCormick.

Cecil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family with all his heart. From an early age Cecil had a love for baseball and was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team for four years at Chaffee High. After high school, he attended Ambassador College where he studied business. He worked for Ambassador College for many years in Big Sandy, TX, and ended his career as Senior Vice President at Advantage Storage before retirement in 2014. He had a wonderful full life, dedicated to his love for God and family. He will be missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janie McCormick; his daughter, Cherlyn Morrison and husband, Andy; his daughter, Holly Botyos and husband, Ken; his son, Steve McCormick; his daughter, Christina Britton; his brother, Gerald McCormick of Marble Hill, MO; his sister, Donna McCormick of West Plains, MO; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Harold, Ronald and Junior; and his three sisters, Patty, Rita and Christine.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:30am on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with a celebration of Cecil’s life beginning at 11:30am.
