Jeffery R. McGowan, 75, of Lacon Ill., died on July 29, 2020, at Lacon Rehab & Nursing in Lacon. Born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 9, 1945 to the late Raymond and Rose (Valenzuela) McGowan. He married Judy Gentry on September 14, 1969. Judy passed away on June 11, 2000. Jeffery was a minister for the Worldwide Church of God until his retirement. He loved volunteering at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. Jeffery is survived by his son Nathan (Sasoon) McGowan of California; daughter Monica (Dustin) Register of Florida; brother Milton “Scott” McGowan of California; and sisters Cindy (Robert) Kelleher of Carmichael, California & LeAnn (Jerry Schweitzer) McGowan of Oregon; and four grandchildren. Cremation rites have been accorded and an inurnment of cremated remains will be at a later date in California. Memorials may be made to the Lacon Rehab activity fund. The last time I remember seeing and talking with Jeff was probably at the Feast of Tabernacles in Eugene, about 1984. We were at a roller skating rink for a family activity. When he was pastoring in Boise, idaho and a couple of eastern Oregon congregations, he said he hoped Pasadena would "forget about him", implying he wanted to stay serving in that area indefinitely. I knew him as a humble and dedicated servant. God's blessings of peace and comfort to his family.
