Obituary of Robert Merrill

Robert King Merrill was born in Los Angeles, California in 1929 and raised in Glendale, California. He was the son of Ralph and Alice Merrill. As a young teen, he attended movie premiers in Hollywood and obtained many autographs of movie stars. He graduated high school and attended Ambassador College in Pasadena, California where he met his wife Dorothy. They were married in 1952. They were married for 61 years. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 as a medic. He was a bricklayer by trade after leaving the Army. He also was a piano teacher while living in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Pasadena, California and Corpus Christi, Texas where he was the song leader for church services. He was also a member of the World Wide Church of God in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he played the piano for church services. He enjoyed dancing, music, literature, travel, camping and fishing. He resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Dorothy for 41 years. After retiring from bricklaying he worked at a daycare center as the bus driver. He enjoyed working with the children very much. After he stopped working at the daycare center, he continued his pursuits of arts and crafts,literature and geneology. His family was very important to him and he loved my mother dearly. He was a kind and gentle man that guided his children and grandchildren through life with love and teaching through reflection. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Merrill, two daughters Zoe Eichman and Loraine Esquibel, eight grandchildren Jennifer, Dana, Shannon, Jessie, Nathan, Jeremy, Amanda, Matthew and ten great grandchildren. His son Daniel Merrill preceded him in death in 2010. He passed at Pikes Peak Care Center after a long battle with cancer. He will be loved always and missed by many.
