According to the coroner's report, Scott died from a fall while hiking in the Mount San Jacinto area probably late afternoon on September 3. Apparently he had been alone so nobody observed the fall. All indications were that he did not suffer -- he tumbled down a very steep grade and hit his head on a boulder.
Scott was a good friend when we were in high school. He was one of the brightest, most sensible and honest thinkers I have known. He knew how to work hard and how to have fun. I learned a lot from him and wish he were still around.
