I share this information from FB Ambassador - in Memoriam:

I understand that Bernie Schnippert passed away on Wednesday 09/10 but I don't have any details other than he had a carcinoid cancer that had spread considerably and had infected soft tissues and bones in his upper abdomen area.

So sorry to hear this.  Bernie was one of my favorite folks at AC.

I first met Bernie as a teen-ager in the Pittsburgh church.  We lived in Detroit, he, somewhere near Pittsburgh.  We were both into Amateur Radio at the time and working on higher licenses.  He and Dan Bierer and I hung out together during the couple years where Pittsburgh was the closest church for my family before Detroit began.  I will never forget the canoe trip at camp in Big Sandy, where Bernie and I were canoe partners for a week along the Sabine river.  We did a lot of zig - zagging down the river, because neither of us was strong enough to paddle efficiently at that age!  We were in AC together for a couple of years,  Then he was sent into the field far away and we didn't see much of each other.  Over the later years I only saw Bernie on occasion as we were separated by long distances.  I do miss looking up to him.
