James “Jim” C. Simpson III

Born: June 13, 1952, Dumas, TX

Died: January 31, 2016, Amarillo, TX

Born to J.C. and Judy Simpson. He married Debra Merklin on March 11, 1979, in Liberal, KS.

In the late 1980s, he started working at Foundry and Steel of Amarillo, TX as a machinist and later transitioned to Owens Corning plant, where he was working at the time of his death. Jim had worked as a machinist, truck driver, insurance salesman and bricklayer, among others.

He loved to tinker and use his hands to solve problems, coming up with unique solutions. His many interests included his Lord, his family and friends, clockworks, astronomy, music, electronics, looking for his next project and helping those around him. The twinkle in his eyes, his deep belly laugh and his generosity of spirit will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Simpson. Survivors include his wife, Debra Simpson of the home; a daughter, Erin Simpson of Lubbock, TX; his mother, Judy Childers and husband Bob of Antlers, OK.; his sisters, Barbara Urwiller (Ron) of Ravenna, NE, and Cheryl Corson (Walt) of Monrovia, CA; and numerous other family members.
