I found this regarding Charles...I didn't know him, but I'm sure he'll be missed by many! How very unfortunate! http://sf.streetsblog.org/2015/03/03/driver-kills-cyclist-charles-vinson-66-at-14th-and-folsom/
This is very sad news. Someone out riding his bike to save a few dollars, take a car out of traffic and drive down the price of gas for others, get some exercise, some fresh air and blow off some stress or just for the joy of cycling ends up losing his life. I did not know Charles that I remember but my condolences to his loved ones.
I have one set of specific memories of Charles. He and I were both Mr. Paxton's piano students. I was struggling to recapture my piano skiils that I'd formally dropped in junior high. Mr. Paxton was retired and had an amazing history of performing. Charles' lesson was right after mine and was truly gifted. He had a wonderful musical ear and often played (incluiding improvising) without any written pieces in front of him. I believe he was also in AC Band.
