Linda J (Aitken) Smith, 70, formally of Pembroke and Loudon, NH, passed away on August 16 in South Boston, Virginia, after many years of declining health.
Linda was born in Pittsburg, PA to Edward and Dorothy Aitken. She graduated from Chartiers High School in 1969 and entered Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA that fall. She was married briefly to John Foster.
Linda graduated from New Hampshire College with a degree in Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. She worked for the NH Department of Transportation and several accounting firms in NH before opening her own CPA firm.
Linda's was first female owned CPA firm in the State of New Hampshire. She also became a stock broker and was the first ever brokerage firm in NH. Her office was located on Loudon Road in Concord for many years.
Linda loved animals: horses, dogs and cats. She also loved to travel to the Caribbean, Central America and the Far East.
Linda is survived by her husband Jeffrey Smith of Chase City Virginia; her mother Dorothy Aitken, brother Edward Aitken, niece Emily Aitken, sister-in-law Leslie Aitken of Altadena California; her sister-in-law Barbara Droege and husband, and niece Alyson Hyzak and husband, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
She is preceded in death by her father, sister-in-law Susan Smith, father-in-law Floyd Smith, and niece Emma Droege.
