I believe Les was just 17 and fresh out of high school when we arrived on campus in August of '69.  I was five years older, having recently completed serving in the Air Force.  He had an amiable personality and we hit it right off.  I had considerable experience with barbershop singing and with his beautiful bass voice, he was the perfect choice for the quartet we put together with Ken Johnston as baritone, Gary Kapity as lead and me as tenor, see picture.  L to R, me, Gary in barbershop chair recovering from skiing fun, Ken and Les on the right.  The picture was taken during our performance in the student center.  I wondered whatever became of him after graduation and sorry to hear he passed so young.  I'm sure he made a great husband and father.
