Lygia Josephine Alvarez Villarreal 

April 30, 1952 - September 8, 2021

Lygia Alvarez grew up in Chula Vista, CA. She entered AC Big Sandy in 1971 and in 1972 she transferred to the Pasadena campus with the Spanish Department where she worked while continuing her AC studies, graduating in 1975. Lygia is survived by her husband Abel Villarreal, a son Jonathan,  and 2 grandchildren, all of Richland, Washington 

Abel & Lygia lost their daughter Michelle to cancer in 2007.
