Dr. Kaplan made opening remarks and read portions of Proverbs 31 about a virtuous woman.
Then Kelly Leeson, Jeff's wife, daughter-in-law of Joan and Boyd, began the sharing of memories section by recounting her first meeting with Joan and Boyd and how terrified she was. She soon learned what a caring and loving woman Joan was.
Jim Roberts met Joan in Ambassador College and they soon became best buds.
Neil Earle was Joan's pastor for a time. He shared a message from Roger Lippross.
Janet Shay read a tribute from John D. Schroeder, chorale and choir director, which was posted on the AC Pasadena Reunion website.
Other memories were shared by Tim Finlay, Alice Martin, David Vierra, John Hopkinson and Sherry Uhlig, a longtime friend. A gentleman who worked with Joan for 14 years at The Children's Oncology Group Foundation remembered her as a dedicated, hard working and caring person who mentored him when he first arrived at work.
Dr. Kaplan concluded by reading scriptures pointing to the resurrection and a closing prayer.
