Norma Jean Shirk of Lake View Terrace, CA, passed away peacefully at home on 8/7/24, surrounded by her family.

Norma Jean was born in Filbert, PA, on October 17, 1937, as the only child of Peter and Mary Cokomatch. She graduated from Redstone Township High School, Republic, PA, in 1955, before moving to California to attend college. Norma Jean then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Ambassador College in Pasadena, where she also met her future husband, Charles F. Shirk.

After they were married in 1966, Charles and Norma Jean remained in Pasadena and Norma Jean became a private school teacher and a homemaker. In 2004, they moved to Lake View Terrace, CA for their retirement years. Norma Jean loved teaching, was an excellent cook, and a talented seamstress, who made most of her own clothes. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, traveling, reading, working difficult crossword puzzles, and listening to Dodger baseball games on the radio.

Norma Jean was preceded in death in 2022 by her loving husband of over 55 years and is survived by her children; Brian Shirk, Carolyn Shirk, Marilyn Pagliuso and grandsons; Stephen Pagliuso and Andrew Pagliuso.

Per her wishes, there will be no memorial service. If anyone would like to donate to an organization in her memory, her favorite charities included Operation Blessing and Best Friends Animal Society.
