Esther Cole (Glover) - Year Entered 1953

Esther Cole (Glover)

Esther Marie Glover

March 27, 1935  -  October 29, 2025

Esther Marie Glover, 90, of Eugene Oregon passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on October 29, 2025, after an extended illness. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her love, companionship, and friendship will be deeply missed.

To say Esther had an interesting and influential life would be an understatement.

Esther Marie Cole was born on March 27th, 1935, in Fairview, Oklahoma to Otis & Nellie May (Dickenson) Cole. Esther was the 6th of 9 children. The Cole family were devout keepers of a 7th day Sabbath. Esther honored a 7th day weekly Sabbath her entire life.

The Cole family moved to the small town of Jefferson, Oregon in 1936 when Esther was 16 months old. She attended grade school in Jefferson and Junior and Senior High School in nearby Albany.

Esther graduated from High School in 1953 and moved to Pasadena, California where she attended Ambassador College and began dating her future husband, Billy Irl Glover. They were married on June 11, 1955, and were married for almost 64 years when he died on February 16, 2019.

Esther and Bill brought 8 children into the world who would bless them with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Glover family moved from Altadena California to Creswell, Oregon in November of 1966. Esther began working at Springfield Memorial Gardens in 1976 and later at Landgreen Hardwood Floors in Eugene where she retired in 2023.

Esther’s life journey was very difficult at times, but she was determined to rise above life’s challenges and do the best she could for her children. The hard work she did on the farm as a young girl served her well in life.

Esther loved spending time with family and friends, especially when playing card games. She loved to travel, which included an Alaskan cruise on her 50th anniversary and countless other journeys. Esther’s positive attitude, generosity, and ability to talk about almost anything leaves a void impossible to fill. Esther ran a good race and finished strong. We will miss her.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, 7 brothers and sisters and 2 grandchildren. She is survived by 8 children, 29 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, a brother and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at Major Family Funeral Home at 112A St. in Springfield Oregon on Monday, November 10th from 10AM-1PM.

A celebration of Esther’s life will be held in the spring of 2026. Once those arrangements have been finalized the details will be posted on Esther’s tribute page at www.majorfamilyfuneralhome.com
