Edward D. Faulk

Age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at Churchman’s Village on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilmington, NC, Edward was the son of the late David and Lucille (Tucker) Faulk.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force for nearly ten years, retiring as Captain. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at A & T State University, and later became of minister of the Worldwide Church of God.

The Reverend will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Thelma (Wilkins) Faulk; his sons, Edward D. Faulk, Jr. and his wife, Brandy, of Germany and Michael K. Faulk of Newark; and his grandson, David.

A Committal Service will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 10 AM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.  Condolences may be made a MealeyFuneralHomes.com.

Edward D. Faulk, Sr. son of the late David and Lucille (Tucker) Faulk, was born on April 5, 1934 in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Edward passed away the evening of February 21, 2018.   He attended the public schools of Wilmington, North Carolina.  In June, 1952 he graduated from Williston High School.   At an early age he was active in the faith as an altar boy for the Episcopal Church.   

Edward graduated from North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry in May of 1957.  In addition to his studies he completed the ROTC course.  Ed was united in holy matrimony to Thelma Wilkins in Washington, DC on July 12, 1959. 

Edward joined the United States Air Force serving his country proudly for nearly ten years, retiring as Captain.  Throughout his military career he was awarded several honors including:  Air Force Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Senior Missile Man Badge, and National Defense Service Medal.  His final position in the Air Force was Missile Combat Crew Commander, McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas.   Edwards military service was foundational in preparing him for a life of service in the ministry. 

Early one morning in 1965, while driving home from McConnell, he was listening to a broadcast from a 100 watt radio station out of Eugene, Oregon.  He was listening to the Radio Church of God, the genesis of what would later become the World Wide Church of God.  Edward’s theology training began at Ambassador College in Pasadena, California.  His first assignment was as an Associate Pastor of the Manhattan, New York church.    Ed continued his education at the New York Theological Seminary in Manhattan graduating with a Master of Professional Studies in 1977.  For 13 years Ed served as an Associate Pastor to various congregations including, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island N.Y.  In 1982 he was promoted to Pastor of the Norfolk, Virginia congregation.  He was there until 1986.  Edward then became the Associate Pastor of the Trenton N.J. church.  Edward also served as served in the Brick and Vineland, New Jersey churches.  The last church he pastored was in Lorain, Ohio where he retired from the ministry.     

Ed’s life is celebrated by his wife Thelma, his sons, Edward, Jr. (Brandy) and Michael Faulk, two grandchildren, Edward David, III and Seth Faulk, one great grandchild Edward David Faulk, IV, Sister in Laws Emma Hawkins, Bernice Williams, Constance Wilkins and many nieces and nephews.

Good Afternoon:

It is with deep sadness that I inform you my long time friend Ed Faulk died last night, February 22, 2018, around 10 PM.

Ed suffered a stroke over 10 years ago and most recently suffered from Alzheimer's.

Please keep Mrs. Thelma Faulk in your prayers.
