James Kunz baptized me and my wife Evelyn in Florida in 1965 when we were living on the Naval Station in Mayport, FL. We drove about 90 miles one way each Saturday to attend church in Lakeland. I learned a lot from James Kunz's sermons.

I was a Naval officer away on a US Navy destroyer that year when my son Edward (born Dec 1964) became very ill with a fever and a 106 temperature. Edward was hot and lying lifeless in bed. Evelyn called James Kunz and got his wife, who sent Evelyn an anointed cloth. She anointed Edward who sat up in bed, perfectly normal, with a 98 degree temperature. I think God worked this healing for Evelyn's benefit in preparation for us to attend AC Pasadena. Later in January 1966 I moved our family from Florida to AC Pasadena to become a student. 1966 was the last time I saw James Kunz.

When I was in high school, my family attended church at the Garden Club in Lakeland Florida where Mr. Kunz was our pastor.  I remember him for humor in his sermons and being instrumental in getting me into AC.  I was a little older than his daughter, Colleen, and really appreciated being invited to spend the night at their house several times.  Mrs. Kunz showed me how to fry eggs sunny side up in butter with a little water then put a top on the pan till done.  I enjoyed Mr. Kunz as our pastor and mentor to teenagers.
