Ron and I were roommates the academic year 1968-1969. He had already graduated from one of the large California universities (I don't remember which one), with a degree in history. He came to AC primarily to work with Dr. Hoeh, whom Ron considered a genius of the highest rank. Ron was a truly nice and gentle being--low key, obviously highly intelligent, and, not unlike his mentor, more than a little eccentric. After I somehow managed to graduate from AC in 1971, I immediately returned to Texas. A few month later, Ron sent me a nice card, wishing me well in my future endeavors. That was our last contact. Upon joining the forum, I was saddened to become aware of his early passing.
