Marion McNair - Year Entered 1948

Marion McNair

From Doris Cole on the Pasadena AC website:

DEATHS OF MARION AND DELOYCE BUTLER MCNAIR

I'm sorry to interrupt the very interesting posts of the past few days with news of more deaths of previous AC students and employees. Last week I called Charlene Glover Smith to inform her of the death of Burk McNair and during our conversation the name of Marion McNair was mentioned. We wondered where he and DeLoyce were and how to contact them. We put on our detective hats and this is what was found. DeLoyce passed away on August 20, 2017 at age 84 and her memorial service was held on Sept.11th at the Baldwin Brothers Tavares Heritage Chapel. (Her obit is on their web site.) Since I was told during my search that Marion was also deceased but I found no records to confirm that I called the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home today and was told that Marion McNair died on Oct, 6, 2017 at 88 years old. May they rest in Peace.

Dean Smith (1964)

Learning of the passsing of Marion McNair brought back some pleasant memories. I became acquainted with Marion and Deloyce back in 1965 as a freshman at A.C. I was a piano student of Lucy Martin, so she referred me to Marion because he needed an accompanist to help him prepare for his vocal recital. I spent many hours practicing together with Marion, and appreciated his kind and reserved manner. His fine tenor voice was very suited to the classic ballads, such as The Jasmine Door, that were part of his recital. I lost contact with him when I left Pasadena in 1973.
