The funeral yesterday was at the pavilion at the cemetery in Hawkins. It was totally full! Jim Stewart sang How Great Thou Art (Benton's request). Dr. Ward gave a good message and there was a flag folding ceremony at the end (he had served in the Navy). About 50 came to the church building for the reception.

Benton and I were good friends at college many years ago. I remember him as being kind, friendly, and always available to help if he even heard someone was in need. His peaceful demeanor was a comfort to so many people. We had a chance to visit over the phone a few years ago and we started in talking as if we had just seen each other a short time ago. He will be missed. Joan Goodchild Elliott .
