Obituary - Died April 15, 2024

On Monday, April 15, 2024 William (“Bill”) Randall Pack passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and all of his children.  Bill was born on Sep 15, 1951, the third child to Randall E. and Jane (Crowl) Pack.  He spent his childhood and teen years in Lima, Ohio excelling as a swimming athlete in high school.  At the age of 16, Bill moved west to Pasadena, California where he finished his senior year and attended a small biblically-based college majoring in theology, history, and public speaking.  It was there that Bill hit the lottery when he met the love of his life and dedicated wife of 50 years, Wendy (Robertson) Pack.

After college graduation in 1973, Bill and Wendy were married and directly entered the field of ministry assisting or pastoring in nearly a dozen congregations in KS, NY, MD, VA, and WV over a 20-year span.  Bill was a powerful, engaging public speaker and a brilliant writer authoring 2 Biblical books and many whitepapers, emphasizing a deeper understanding of the Old Testament scriptures in order to shed light on the New Testament writings.

Bill and Wendy started two successful Health Foods stores one in Winston Salem the other in Cana, VA.  Bill retired and took on the task of renovating a run down 55-acre farm in the foothills of southwest Virginia, turning it into a landscape masterpiece.  With his meticulous eye for beauty and drive for perfection, he turned every piece of property he ever owned into something idyllic.  Bill loved good food, he loved to laugh and make others laugh, he loved to sit on his deck and enjoy God’s creation blended with the beautiful views he created, he loved to read, he loved to use conversation as a way to make those he loved feel special.

Bill is survived by his wife Wendy, his four children, Brandon (Valorie) Pack, Sabrina (Ben) Massie, Jason (Rachel) Pack, Marah (Todd) Clarkson, and fourteen grandchildren.

Most of all he deeply loved God, the Bible and his family. His favorite Bible verse was “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” (Isa. 60:1) “Rise and Shine!”

We hear a lot about Dave Pack and his failings. But he’s not the only Pack who is an AC alumnus. A younger brother, William Randall Pack graduated in 1973. He married Wendy Sue Robertson who was in the same class.

I received this note from Bill’s daughter Sabrina Massie this evening.

Bill Pack passed away peacefully late Mon night after a short illness, surrounded by his wife and all of his children.  He was 72.  We are grateful for the time God granted us with Bill, we desired more time, but in the end, God had decided that this was his time to sleep.   A private family memorial service is being planned for the near future. Ben & Sabrina would like to thank everyone for all of their prayers and kind gestures.  They greatly appreciate them.  Please continue to pray for Bill's widow Wendy, for Sabrina and her siblings, that God would comfort all of them in this time of grief.
