Shane Ramsey

Lifelong Alaskan Shane Ramsey, 56, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 11, 2011, at his home in Chugiak.
He was born May 19, 1955, in Fairbanks. He graduated from Lathrop High School and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Shane attended Ambassador College in Pasadena, Calif., where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in theology.

Shane was a licensed pilot, A&P mechanic, A&P inspector and flight engineer on jet aircraft. He inherited his love of the aviation industry from his father, Guy, who taught him how to fly, and his mother who worked for the airline industry, Northern Consolidated Airlines and Wien Air Alaska, all of her working life.
Shane worked for Cape Smythe Air in Barrow and Frontier Flying Service in Fairbanks, where he received certification as inspector. He then worked at Northern Air Cargo in Fairbanks as flight engineer on DC-6 tanker aircraft before moving to Anchorage and into jet aircraft.

Shane traveled throughout rural Alaska for his work. He enjoyed swimming, flying his Cessna 170 and playing the guitar. He had a great sense of humor and a kind heart.

Shane was preceded in death by his mother, Sybil Ramsey of Fairbanks. He is survived by his father Guy Ramsey of Nenana; brother, Gregory Galik; sister-in-law, Lynn Allingham; nephews, Geoffrey Galik and Jon-Paul Galik, all of Anchorage; sister, Debbie Partridge, brother-in-law Patrick Partridge; nephew, Matthew Partridge, and niece Alexis Partridge, all of Auburn, Wash.

Arrangements were by Cremation Society of Alaska.
