Karen Rogers, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend, passed away on April 11, 2025 in Saskatoon SK. at the age of 67. Karen was born on July 3, 1957 as the middle child of Bill Stella Ridgway. Karen is survived by her husband Tim, her sister Estelle, brother James (Lois), children Shellaine (Roy) and Kent (Sereana), grandchildren; Allie, Alexzander "Zander," Kora, and Braelena, and many relatives and friends. Karen's love, generosity and kindness touched the hearts and lives of the many who knew her well. Karen was predeceased by her loving parents Frederick William "Bill" and Stephania (Stella) Ridgway and brother David Ridgway.
Karen was born and raised in Saskatoon. She attended John Lake School and Walter Murray High School before leaving for Pasadena, California to attend Ambassador College. At college she was a member of the varsity swimming and basketball teams. Upon her return from California, she met and married Tim Rogers. She was a loving mother of their two kids, Shellaine and Kent, and doting grandmother of their grandkids: Allie, Zander, Kora, and Braelena.
Karen's married life began with a move from Saskatoon to Tim's family farm in Frenchman Butte, SK. She gave up her city life that she was so familiar with, and her job at the Saskatchewan Research Council Steno, to become a homemaker on the farm. After returning to Saskatoon to support Tim in completing his university degree, the family moved to St. Paul, AB where they settled, first in town then on an acreage, for 27 years. While in St. Paul, she harnessed her love of children and became a Teacher's Assistant at the local Jr. and Sr. High Schools.
Karen always maintained close connections to family and friends in Saskatchewan, and in the last 6 years of her life, she returned to Saskatoon. She became a collector of beautiful things with the aspiration of running a business of buying and selling collectibles. One interest in particular was tea pots and cups. She loved to invite her friends and family over for a visit and tea in the afternoons. Her home was always open to friends and family and the thing she loved best was when the people she loved would gather in her home for a meal, a visit, and a game of cards or dominos, or better yet, all three.
Karen's unfailing love, kind, generous soul and the blessing of her being will be greatly missed and forever in our memories and hearts.
