Lake View Terrance  ---  Charles F. Shirk, of Lake View Terrace, CA passed away May 8, 2022. on his 88th Birthday, surrounded by his family.  Charles Franklin Shirk was born on May 8, 1934, in Lancaster, PA to Amos and Clara Shirk.  Charles held multiple degrees, including an M.E. in speech and hearing from Temple University.  

In 1957, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1963.

He moved to Pasadena, CA in 1964 where he earned a B.A. in Theology and education from Ambassador College and taught at Imperial Schools.

Charles worked as a speech pathologist most of his career - first in PA and then in CA.  Before retiring in 1966, he worked for the Rosemead, CA school district in that same capacity.  During his career, he helped many children improve their speech and was well-liked and respected by his students and colleagues.

He was a loving husband, dad, granddad, uncle and friend.  He loved playing the piano, listening to classical music, gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Norma Jean;  children, Brian Shirk, Carolyn Shirk and Marilyn Pagliuso;  grandsons, Stephen Pagliuso and Andrew Paglioso;  sister Dolores Shambaugh;  nephew Tom Shambaugh and niece Sheryl Shambaugh.

Per his wishes, there will be no memorial service.  If anyone would like to donate to an organization in his memory, his favorite charities were Operation Blessing, KUSC (public classical music station), or a charity that can plant a tree in his honor.
