When I first came to AC in August 1957, I knew only about the weekly Sabbath day, not the annual Feast Days. So, it was a shock to learn that I would soon be halfway across the nation to attend the Feast of Tabernacles in Big Sandy, TX. How was I going to get there? I don't remember exactly how Ralph and I met so soon, but he had brought over from Germany with him a VW beetle and offered to drive me to Big Sandy and the Feast. Furthermore, on the way we could do a little sightseeing at the Grand Canyon (that I had never seen in person) and Meteor Crater. Hugh Mauck loaned us a small tent to stay in during the Feast, and it turned out that Carn Catherwood also stayed in it as well (it wasn't that big). Ralph later went on to marry Hugh's daughter. I don't remember having a lot of contact with Ralph after that, but I know I certainly appreciated his offer very much.
