John Garms

John Garms, age 78, breathed his last about 3:00 PM, Monday, January 4, 2016.

He has been failing for the last week and was put on oxygen last Wednesday.

Several of his family came to town over the weekend to see him.

Kathy, his eldest daughter, and I were sitting at his bedside talking as he slept. Kathy was facing her Dad and I was facing Kathy.  Suddenly she realized that he was not breathing.  She went out to the nurses station immediately and brought two people back with her.  The registered nurse, Jesse, confirmed that John was gone.  What a peaceful way to go.

John is to be cremated and there will be a memorial service soon.  I will send out information when everything is arranged.

Thanks so much to all of you who visited him, sent cards and called.  It really meant a lot to John and Kathy.  John kept a journal at his bedside and recorded the date, who visited, and who called.  Many people wrote comments and even the staff wrote in the journal.  John was loved because he loved.  He was smiling, joking, singing and always expressing his gratitude for anything anyone did for him.  He and Kathy were a terrific example to all who worked there.

He was a fine man!!
