Bill Scott and I worked together in the AC Architecture/Engineering department designing campus building and continued collaborating when I moved to Madison, WI in 1974. Bill and I both enjoyed playing tennis and would get out most noon hours and have at it! We were so well matched that the one with the strongest will to win would be the victor! We lived near each other in Altedena for a number of years. I remember once when we climbed the steep slope to Mt. Wilson and then ran down the trail at an exhilarating pace. Bill was best man at my wedding to Anita Judy. Bill and I kept in touch over the years. The last time we got together was about 10 years ago, when my wife Debbie and I were headed overseas and stayed over an extra day, and toured the Getty Museum with Bill and Sarah. Despite battling stage 4 prostate cancer for a number of years, Bill remained positive. I will miss him.

A few other thoughts on your post about me. On review of the photo of Anita and daughters I have to agree with you on the similarity between Anita and Valerie. Oddly, it never occurred to me before. Sometimes it take a fresh pair of eyes!

On Tony Bennett. A beautifully done song, especially considering his age. Debbie and I were fortunate enough to hear him live at Madison's performing arts faciilty (Overture Center) when he was 90. As a teenager I was very impressed by two of his songs: Stranger in Paradise and Because of You. His voice had such a ringing clarity, it was mesmerizing.

John, thank you so much for that beautiful tribute by the incomparable Mario Lanza.
At AC I was designated to sing bass parts because I could sing most low notes of the selections, but I'm really a baritone with about the same range as Frank Sinatra, whose tunes I love performing

Robert, thank you so much for your kind words. My brother Herb was one of a kind. At his memorial service a number spoke of Herb's frugality, instances of which I had experienced. He did his own car work for instance and drove an old Oldsmobile with 400,000 miles. I had always assumed that his church just paid him very little, but in fact being frugal was his way. He saved money and would often help those in his congregation with medical bills if they could not afford them. He would always insist on helping me with projects at my home, including putting out and taking in my dock, even at the end with the limits of his advanced Pulmonary Fibrosis. I feels so bad about the tragedies of his family after his passing.

With Covid restrictions being lifted, the crowds at Canada's beautiful national parks have greatly increased. Fred

Gary, thanks for the birthday wishes. Loved the tunes. It was interesting to note the vibrato in the "shuffle off to Buffalo" singing, which was in vogue at the time.

Both great tunes, but I especially remember "Stranger on the Shore" - so haunting.
My now deceased twin Herb played clarinet in grade and high school and beyond but switched to sax when he went to AC Big Sandy. He eventually was able to play "OK" by ear. I played cornet at the start and then trumpet which I saved money from part time jobs in high school. I never understood why Joe Bauer did not like the sound of that horn and made me play flugelhorn. Thanks for posting again.

Jim, I did try the Home Mode on the EPSON scanner and it does a pretty fair job. It does crop of some of the image though. I use the Professional Mode, which has the Histogram feature. It does require following up with a program like the one I mentioned to crop off the dark border. My editing program does have a feature for lightening the darker areas and darkening the lighter areas. Also and auto adjustment, which often does a good job. It also has a spot healing feature for removing unwanted objects or lint or anything else. It gets down to how much time you want to spend on an image.
