Dr. Wainwright was a living legend to me when I first became acquainted with him and his wife, Sarah.  Boyd enjoyed French class and French club under his tutelage at Bricket Wood.  We felt priviledged to enjoy his company these past few years due to our close relationship with one of his nephews, Dr. Timothy Finlay.  On one of our visits, Dr. Wainwright enthusiatically showed us a number of back-alley "short cuts" for driving all over the Las Vegas Strip. He took us to some of his favorite restaurants and sights, and the "best" buffets in town, and guided us to the "best" viewing points for the dancing fountains at the Mirage.  That was the greatest fun I've had since Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disney Land years ago!  A very un-stuffy, intelligent, wise and humble man whose friendship we will always treasure.

Robert Petry (1959)

The second dorm I was assigned to was Manor del Mar. Third floor. Anyway, I had lived for 3 years in England before AC. Well, needless to say students from England and I got along just fine. I think those that knew me felt comfortable with me since I knew a little about their homeland, etc.

David Wainwright and I used to study the Bible together in a small room on the first floor. It was almost hidden as I recall. One walked into the main room, turn right into a side room, and then right again into the room I'm talking about. It had doors, and a table or two and chairs. So that is where we would go to study.

I remember David as a terrific person, and a real friend. Don't remember the exact timing, etc. but one day he was gone, and our meetings to study came to a screeching halt. Frankly, I missed him, and still do to this day. The reason he left in such a hurry, at least it seemed that way to me then, was that AC Bricketwood was calling, and he had been assigned to help there. My loss their gain!

As a passing thought, Arlene and I were married by Dr. Dorothy in the main room of Manor del Mar on April 12, 1964.
